Second Annual Hyde Park Teen Job Fair

Second Annual Teen Job Fair at the Hyde Park Branch Library, Saturday, June 2nd from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM

It's not too late to register your business for a job, internship or community service opportunity. HPMS will provide a listing for all businesses that register at the Teen Job Fair at our table. Businesses are invited to attend and meet the teens in person, but it is not required. Teens will learn about potential jobs, volunteer service and resume/interview skills.

To register, simply fill out the one page form on our web site, then fax the completed form to the HPMS office at
617-361-4567.

Direct from Our Members...

Manisha Sethi Varma, Owner of Subway of Hyde Park & HPMS Business Member, on hiring kids from the first Teen Job Fair. "They are still with me. They are good kids, I enjoy working with them. If you give them a good work ethic to begin with, they stick with you for a long time...I think it is good to support the community and the kids."

Thanks to Main Street Supporters, Campaign For Hyde Park a Success

Thanks to all of you who responded so generously to the Annual Campaign for HPMS, contributions and memberships are still coming in daily. In fact, you have already quadrupled the number of Boston Community Change Card holders in Hyde Park.

We encourage everyone to sign up for the FREE BCC Card online at www.bost oncommunitychange.org It's a simple and easy way to earn cash rebates for you and generate donations to Main Streets and a chairty or school of your choice. Look for the BCCC logo at participating businesses across the city. Over 100 are now offering special deals for BCCC cardholders.

Last month in Hyde Park, we signed up Serino's, River Grille, M. F. Designs and Minuteman Press as participating merchants. Adding to our roster that already included Albert Winestein, Richard's Wine & Spirits, Subway, and Stanton & Flaherty Law Offices.

HPMS Business Networking Breakfast with Mayor Menino

Mayor Menino with HPMS Business Members including Norm Williamson, Pres. of Hyde Park Cooperative Bank and Ken Pierog, Pres. of Hyde Park Savings Bank, our Corporate Buddies.

We were very pleased to welcome Mayor Thomas M. Menino as our guest speaker at our May Networking Breakfast, the last one before we break for the summer. A highly popular networking opportunity for the entire Hyde Park business community, the Breakfast started a few years ago and has grown steadily to an average of 25-30 attendees. Sponsored since its inception by the Hyde Park Cooperative Bank, the Breakfast will return in September.

In a special assignment for HPMS, Michael Morgan, of Morgan and Associates Communications covered the May Breakfast for us and has written an interesting and in depth profile of the event including the Mayor's remarks. To read the article go to our web site at www.hyd eparkmainstreets.com and check out the link on our home page for the Networking Breakfast.
