Being a Member is about being an active supporter and a beneficiary of our Program, networked together through Main Streets we represent a stronger and more effective economic resource for small businesses and our Small Town In The City. Join or renew your Membership now, you will be supporting your community and investing in the future of Hyde Park.

Your financial contribution funds Hyde Park Main Street Program Initiatives, (over half our Budget is raised locally),

  • Attractive Storefronts to bring in both customers and new business, 17 renovation projects underway now and generating over $32,000 in professional design and architectural services in Hyde Park this year.
  • Targeted business recruitment and marketing to actively promote our Small Town In The City utilizing the economic master plan we developed with MIT’s Dept. of Urban Studies and Planning and our web site.
  • Landscaping and public art projects in the business district to enhance the pedestrian experience and keep the Square cleaner. HPMS has won a series of grants to fund these projects including one for new benches and flower containers.

Volunteering Opportunities

Volunteer by participating in one of the following committees or special projects:

Economic Restructuring (ER) Committee

Purpose: To strengthen the existing business base while at the same time actively recruiting new businesses and encouraging business expansion.

Meetings: First Monday of every Month, 6:00 PM

Tasks: Members focus on the business community by providing assistance, outreach and recruitment.

If you like any of the following, you would enjoy being on this committee:

  • Needed business people, graphics designers and PR and financial expertise
  • Design and produce marketing materials for Hyde Park
  • Develop ongoing speaker list for Networking Breakfasts
  • Expand direct business recruitment by targeting specific businesses to attract to the district
  • Maintain a Hyde Park database for retail vacancies and rental rates

Promotions Committee

Purpose: To market a unified, quality image true to Hyde Park Main Streets’ district by assisting existing programs and developing a limited number of new ones designed to attract residents and maintain positive attitudes.

Meetings: Second Monday of every month, 6:30 PM

Tasks: Promotions Committee members help promote Hyde Park through community events and image building, advertising, & publicity.

  • Needed event planners, writers, advertising knowledge
  • Designing ads, posters or fliers
  • Working with local newspapers, writing news articles for web site
  • Volunteering at community special events
  • Creating and planning community events to promote Hyde Park

Design Committee

Purpose: To administer and guide the Storefront Improvement Grant Program, establishing cooperative partnerships with property and business owners participating in the Program and advocate a cohesive approach to building improvements through our local design guidelines.

Meetings: Second Thursday of every month, 6:00 PM

Tasks: Review and administration of Facade Improvement Program including working directly with applicants, architects and the Director.

  • Meeting with property and business owners to discuss design projects
  • Implementing a cohesive design strategy for the district
  • Active involvement in the storefront improvement grant process
  • Developing public art and streetscape projects

Projects & Other Ways to Help

Purpose: To lend a helping hand for different kinds of projects ranging from the Annual Clean-Up Day with your neighbors in Hyde Park, distributing “Shopping on Main Streets” bags at the Anderson Tree Lighting or preparing mailings and archiving news clippings in your home.

Meetings: None. Work from home on some projects. Contact via phone and email for scheduled events.

Tasks: To participate in clean-up days and special events. Assist in administrative duties that help reach out to the community, promote events and help with general office duties. Some work can be done at home.
