Thanksgiving from Hyde Park Main Streets! What goes
together with the traditional family gathering this time of year? We
share a meal with family and friends to give thanks and be together, and
then inevitably there is football. Why not make it more interesting this
year by being in the running to go to the Super Bowl yourself!
There’s

major fundraiser for Hyde Park Main Streets. Revenues generated by this
unique fundraiser help make possible many of our programming initiatives
as we directly invest in our community through Main Streets. Plus it’s

From 63 Hits To Over 6,000

Why
build a web site or have an Internet presence? Many small
businesses ask themselves this question, since it does involve a
financial and even more prohibitively a time commitment to develop one
and also often means learning new technology as well. I had these same
questions myself and have found out first hand it is an investment in
the future that keeps yielding results.
Here’s
a quick look at our results from www.hydeparkmainstreets.com. When we
first launched the site in March we had 63 hits, now in October alone
we had 6,955 hits and a total of over 40,000 hits since we started.
What does this mean? It means we are achieving one of our major
goals in creating the web site, communicating with a wider audience
about our Program and about Hyde Park.
One
of the most popular pages on our web site is our Business Member
Directory. Customers are finding what they need by searching our
web site and finding a complete listing of every business in the
district plus a special page recognizing our Business Members who
support us as we work together to promote Hyde Park. To make it even
easier for our Members to build on the Main Street web presence we also
offer for only $30.00 their own individual web page customized for
their business and hosted on our web site. One Business Member, Dr.
Dean Family Dentistry, already has his page on our site and more are
signing up. Large corporations have the resources to tap into
technology to grow their companies, with Hyde Park Main Streets as
their partner we hope to bring all the advantages and benefits of the
Internet to our neighborhood businesses. As Pedro Santana of River
Street Grille said when signing up, his business is “not going to be
left behind” and we’re pleased to be able to deliver that competitive
edge to our Business Members.

of America Charitable Foundation is pleased to continue Fleet’s long
tradition of supporting the Boston Main Street Program--Providing
support to organizations like Hyde Park Main Streets, which set
their own higher standards in service and improve the quality of life
in our communities, is key to our strategy to build capacities that
truly make a difference.” So read the official acknowledgement letter to
HPMS together with a $3,000.00 grant award to our Program. This funding
represents important general operating support for all our efforts to
benefit our Small Town in the City and Hyde Park Main Streets is very
pleased to be the recipient of this award from the Bank of America
Charitable Foundation.

Anderson Tree Lighting

 Hyde Park's
own Manny Delcarmen, Red Sox Pitcher is the 2005 Tree Lighter with
Mayor and Mrs. Menino
The Annual Anderson Tree Lighting is
a great holiday tradition in Hyde Park. It features live entertainment by Riverside
Theatre Works (HPMS Business Member) and Dance Academy. There are also
horse drawn sleigh rides, pony rides, a petting zoo, photos with Santa,
the mystic valley railroad, story telling, carousel rides and much
more.
Sponsored by the Hyde Park
Cooperative Bank and the Hyde Park Savings Bank, both leaders in the
Hyde Park community and long time corporate sponsors of this event as
well as being Hyde Park Main Streets Corporate Buddies, this is a
popular, family orientated event put together by the hard work of the
Anderson Tree Lighting Committee. HPMS as usual will participate with
our Holidays on Main Streets shopping bags filled with info and
promotional items from local businesses including our Business Member
Directory for Hyde Park. If your business or organization would like to
have an item in the shopping bags please contact the office or drop off
items (menus, class schedules, openings etc.) by November 18th.
