Welcome
The
big news this month for us is the launch of our much anticipated web site
for Hyde Park Main Streets. I have learned a great deal about the
building of a web site from our partners in this project, Tech Boston,
and wish to specially thank and acknowledge the work of the students
involved and Ronnie Millar, the Director, who has been both a guide and
instructor for us in the entire process. We look forward to your comments
on the site, it will continue to be a constant work in progress to keep
it interesting and to better promote Hyde Park.

Live Launch of
www.hydeparkmainstreets.com

Hyde
Park Branch Library at Nighti>
We're
very pleased to announce the live launch of our web site,
www.hydeparkmainstreets.com and hope you will find it to be a great
resource and guide to not only our Program and events, but as a focal
point for all of Hyde Park. Making connections is one of the
things we do best, bringing residents and businesses together for the
common goal of benefiting our Small Town In The City is a driving force
of the Main Street mission. The web site is designed with that mission
in mind, there are sections for both Business and Resident Members. One
feature, the Hyde Park Business Directory, serves the dual purpose of
promoting our existing business base while also providing a quick and
easy service/retail guide for residents.
An
exciting benefit we are offering to our Business Members is to have
their own web page hosted on our site for only $30.00 including design
consultation with Tech Boston, our partner in creating the HPMS web
site. We plan on creating a virtual yellow pages online for our small
business members who might not otherwise have an Internet presence yet. We
encourage you to check out our new web site and send in your comments
and suggestions, some of the sections are still being produced and our
goal is to continually change and update the site to keep it fresh and
informative.
If
Hyde Park is your home, why not make us your home page at www.hydeparkmainstreets.com
and be better connected to your community.

Boston Main Streets
Foundation Gala June 2, 2005
|
|

HPMS
Corporate Buddy Bank Presidents
Many
of you may have already received your invitations in the mail to this
event celebrating the 10th year anniversary of Boston Main Streets and
launching the new Boston Main Streets Foundation. It will be a festive
evening at the Boston Center for the Arts hosted by Mayor Thomas M.
Menino and special guest United States Senator Edward M. Kennedy. If
you are interested in purchasing a ticket please let us know and we can
arrange to have a Hyde Park Main Streets table(s). Every district is
being asked to sell at least one table for ten if possible. I'm very
interested in the concept of the Foundation itself which will be
established as a non-profit entity with the ability to seek alternative
funding from foundations and national/regional corporations. This
is a concept with great potential for the long term financial stability
of the individual neighborhood Main Street Programs. To date over
$300,000.00 has been committed to the Foundation from the Boston Red
Sox, Gillette, John Hancock, the Boston Foundation and others.

10th Annual Fishing
Tournament To Benefit HPMS
|
|

There
is a nice symmetry to the fact that the 10th Annual Fishing Tournament
will benefit Hyde Park Main Streets in this year of our own 10th
Anniversary. The Hyde Park Cooperative Bank Charitable Foundation, past
sponsor of the event, has graciously supported HPMS as the beneficiary
of this unique fundraiser. Working closely with PDM Associates,
originator of the event, we have chartered 22 fishing boats with 132
fisherman/attendees for a day of deep sea fishing with roundtrip
transportation to Cape Cod and ending with a cook-out & raffle at
the Bocce Club in Readville.
The
event is already sold out, but we are actively seeking sponsors for
the specially published Bass Blues and More Recipe Book for only
$100.00 per recipe page, every attendee will receive a copy with
the remainder on sale at the HPMS office. Or we would also
appreciate in-kind donations for the raffle; items already donated
include a Friday evening stay at the beautiful Seaport Hotel and a
round of golf for four at George Wright Golf Course. All donors
and sponsors of the ad/recipe book will be publicly acknowledged in
print by an ad to be published in the Shopper reaching every resident
and business in Hyde Park.

Main Streets
volunteer, Juan Huertas, gets ready to plant the wiskey barrels.
Spring is here, we hope! And it will
soon be time for our annual Clean-up of the Business District. HPMS
always has a great team of volunteers and we are already making plans
to add a special beautification touch to the day. The Design Committee
is doing an inventory of the whiskey barrels for winter damage so we
can get ready for spring flower planting on Saturday, May 7th. If you
are interested in volunteering please call the Main Streets office at
361-6964. We are looking for donations of mulch and gravel for the
flower barrels etc. and also white vinegar to pour into cracks to deter
weed growth on the sidewalks. Businesses should make a special effort
to sweep the sidewalks on Friday, there is a lot of sand and debris
from the winter and the street cleaners will be out in force on
Saturday to clean the streets.
