Launch of New HPMS New Logo To Cap Our 10 Year Anniversary

Sneak preview of the new logo for HPMS Main Streets. Click picture to visit our website and give us your feedback on our new logo.

As we celebrate our 10 year anniversary in 2005, we have many accomplishments to be proud of and many new exciting initiatives we are looking forward to bringing to Hyde Park to benefit our Small Town In The City. One way we’ve decided to mark our anniversary is to kick off a new logo to lead the way for our next 10 years. Professionally developed by Icon Associates and Hyde Park Main Streets, the new logo is intended to be a visual image of our motto, A Small Town In The City, which we feels captures the essence of Hyde Park, a unique neighborhood with a small town feel combined with the advantage of being part of a world class city.

We invite you to check out the final version of the new logo on our web page and send us your comments; your feedback is always appreciated!

Boston Main Streets Foundation Board Meeting Here

Click logo to find out more about the Boston Main Street Foundation.

Hyde Park Main Streets was pleased to host the second meeting of the Boston Main Streets Foundation Board here in December. I am also honored to be serving on the Board, chosen by my peers, as the citywide representative of the Main Street Program Directors.

Our first meeting was held with Mayor Thomas M. Menino at the Parkman House downtown and really set the tone for a positive and enthusiastic start. We are developing our own Foundation for the long term sustainability and support of our neighborhood Programs. In fact one of the proposals generated at this meeting was to have the Board hold meetings in the different districts to see first hand the excellent work being done by individual programs and to foster the connection between the Foundation and the neighborhoods. Foundation Board members include leaders from the corporate community representing Bank of America, Citizens Financial Group, Foley Hoag, John Hancock Financial Services, Samuels & Associates together with Karl Seidman, Lecturer at M.I.T. Dept. of Urban Studies and Planning who some of you may remember was our research partner in the Pew Partnership study of Hyde Park, and reflecting the continued commitment and cornerstone of Main Streets, there is the City of Boston, with Charlotte Golar Ritchie, Chief and Director Dept. of Neighborhood Development and Lisa Signori, Collector/Treasurer both also serving on the Board.

Hyde Park, West Roxbury & Roslindale Main Streets Come Together to Create a Joint 3-Neighborhood Business Directory

Shopping on Main Streets 2005 Membership Directory & Coupon Book (Click photo for Boston Main Street Information)

Shopping locally is a message all neighborhood Main Street Programs love to send because it means supporting your community and local businesses at the same time. With the advent of our web site we’ve been able to create an online Business Directory that we can update monthly and hopefully reach more people using this technology. Yet there is still something very valuable about a print Directory, one that you keep in the drawer and is an easy reference guide and tool to reach local businesses. By partnering with our sister Programs in West Roxbury and Roslindale we have the opportunity to create a 3 neighborhood Directory that would list all the businesses in our combined area with a special emphasis and promotion of Main Street Business Members.

Similar to our web Directory, we will have a free basic listing of all district businesses in order to provide a comprehensive resource for consumers, but will specially highlight and provide additional information about our Main Street Business Members. HPMS market research shows that our business competitors are not other neighborhoods, but malls. By joining together Main Streets can create and deliver a Directory that will help you find what you need in a neighborhood near you.
