Direct from Our Members...
"I volunteer
my time with Hyde Park Main Streets because I believe that the significant
contributions of its volunteers will encourage small buisness owners and
entrepreneurs to invest in Hyde Park. These invaluable contributions will
enhance the long term viability of the local business district in the
community in which I reside."
- Brian Clinton, recently
elected Member of the HPMS Board of Directors from the Advisory Bd., and
Hyde Park resident

Corporate Buddies Renew
Support & Ongoing Leadership Role
|
|

Hyde Park Cooperative Bank
President Norm Williamson, and Treasurer, Rob Nelson with Director, Karen
O'Connell.
The Hyde Park Cooperative Bank and
the Hyde Park Savings Bank exemplify in many ways the vital role a true
“corporate citizen” and leader can play in the life of a community.
From contributing key financial support to giving innumerable volunteer
hours, Hyde Park Main Streets is honored to have these two neighborhood
institutions as our Corporate Buddies.
As we enjoy our 10th year, we
realize how fortunate we are to have the same supporters since 1995,
partners that have in fact over time increased their commitment to us
with their official designation at the $10,000 Corporate Buddy level in
2001. Long standing dedication and a shared vision for a better and
brighter future for Hyde Park, our Small Town in The City make
the Hyde Park Cooperative Bank and the Hyde Park Savings Bank the best
of partners and outstanding corporate leaders in the community.

M.
F. Design Group - "Before" picture of grate and air
conditioner to be removed.
M.F.
Design Group is a well established kitchen and bath specialty design
business that features amazing interiors for your home, some of which
will be on display in their new showroom at 1281 River Street,
(formerly a jewelry store), in the heart of Cleary Square.
The
owner, Marcel Frederique, has been working non- stop to gut and then
transform the interior space. On a parallel track, Hyde Park Main
Streets has also awarded M.F. Design Group a Storefront Improvement
grant to update the exterior to echo the extensive build out being done
on the interior. The iron door grate and unsightly air conditioning
unit over the transom will be removed and the windows will be opened up
and highlighted with custom wood details much like the beautiful
kitchen models within. The signage above will continue the theme of
attractive, gold three dimensional lettering similar to the style next
door at Riverside Flower Shop, but with a special font and style for
M.F. Design Group.
We
are pleased to welcome Mr. Frederique to the Hyde Park community as a
new Business Member of HPMS, a grant recipient and as a new and diverse
specialty business that will contribute to our established commercial
base.

HPMS Awarded A 'Small
Changes' Grant
|
|

Hyde
Park Main Streets is pleased to be a recipient of a $2,888.00 “Small
Changes” grant for proposed streetscape improvement to Logan Square.
This grant program was created through a partnership with Mayor Thomas
M. Menino and the host Democratic National Committee.
The
application process was highly competitive with over $1.8 million in
requests for a first round pool of $250,000 funds. Other recipients in
Hyde Park include the Roosevelt School for school yard improvements.
Our successful grant application cited some of the key findings of the
plan for the district developed by the Dept. of Urban Studies and
Planning at MIT with HPMS. It specifically recommended finding ways to
fund and implement actions such as streetscape improvements to foster a
“cohesive sense of place” in the district.
